Valborg is a very old traditional festival, it was brought over from Germany some time during the middle ages. In Sweden we’ve changed it quite a bit as tend to happen with old festivities. If you’d ask any Swede they would probably tell you they are celebrating the coming of spring, or something to do with witches. It has a strange history and almost every country that celebrates it has a different reason as to why.
I went out with a couple of friends to get some fresh air and watch the fire. There was a choir dressed in odd clothes, Sami people selling coffee with cheese in it, lots and lots of strange foods and kids everywhere.
I started working on a song yesterday when I came home from work, oh and I got a new job. Anyway, I really didn’t have the time to finish it so we ended up going home early so I could spend some time on it. I’ve never written a tune with these kinds of time constraints. Hopefully the song isn’t too much of a mess, it’s very generic but I feel I did my best with the time I had. It was a rather fun challenge actually. I hope you enjoy it for what it is. Now I really need to get some sleep, I’ll leave you with a picture of the disappointingly small bonfire.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
